NWRA developed the CLM credential to address the specialized needs of the landfill industry and NWRA members. The Certified Landfill Manger credential examination, developed in cooperation with industry experts, promotes best practices in landfill operations, management, environmental compliance and financial performance. An individual who successfully passes the certification exam has a foundational knowledge of industry best practices for landfill design, operations and management.
Operator, landfill managers and other solid waste professionals who earn the Certified Landfill Manager (CLM) credential know how to apply industry best practices for:
- the role of landfills in environmental protection
- the necessary characteristics, design, permitting and equipment requirements of landfills
- daily operational procedures
- landfill safety
- landfill construction and surveying practices
- landfill monitoring systems
- landfill financial performance
While some companies and state agencies offer landfill operator training programs, only NWRA can offer the benefit of lessons learned from its member organizations, with a landfill training program that has been around for over 20 years. We offer training from the professionals, for the professional in the solid waste industry. Certification validates an individual’s knowledge, skills, and ability via an independent body.
