The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership program (MEP) was created in 1988 to improve the competitiveness of U.S.-based manufacturing by making manufacturing technologies, processes, and services more accessible to small and medium-sized manufacturers. Over the last 30 years, NIST MEP and the MEP National Network have been focused on bridging the manufacturing productivity gap, identifying opportunities for growth, and encouraging technology deployment. The MEP Centers and their partners, including state governments, universities, community colleges, non-profit entities, associations, and private consultants provide manufacturers with the services needed to reduce bottom-line expenses  and grow top-line profits, both of which are necessary to thrive in the global marketplace.

In this session, you will hear from FloridaMakes - an MEP Partner for Florida, with the sole mission of strengthening and advancing Florida's economy by improving the productivity and technological performance of its manufacturing sector, with an emphasis on small- and medium-sized firms, and Cram-A-Lot - an equipment manufacturer who utilized the MEP program in their state to enhance their business and excel within the waste industry.
