Kevin Kraushaar has enjoyed an extensive and successful career in government affairs, law and association management, having served as the chief of federal and state lobbying for major national trade associations and the head of the Washington, DC office for a prominent national law firm. He has served as a Congressional and state legislative staffer in the roles of Legislative Director, committee counsel, and political caucus advisor. He has been responsible for significant legislative accomplishments at the federal level and he has testified and managed lobbying efforts in 31 state capitals.
Kevin joined the National Waste and Recycling Association in 2015 as Vice President for Government Affairs, Chapter Operations and General Counsel and was promoted to his current position in 2017. He is a nationally recognized speaker, trainer and coach on developing and implementing successful advocacy strategies and on effectively lobbying Congress and state legislatures.
Prior to his association and advocacy career, Kevin served as Legislative Director and Counsel for Congressman Carl D. Pursell, Counsel to the Michigan Senate Judiciary Committee and Assistant Counsel for Michigan Senate Majority Leader John M. Engler. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit Mercy Law School. He is co-chair of the University of Michigan Congressional Breakfast Committee and a mentor/advisor for the University of Michigan in Washington program. He has served as a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Government Relations Council and he chaired the 2013 ASAE Government Relations Symposium.
