Mallory Szczepanski

Vice President of Member Relations and Publications

Mallory Szczepanski is the Vice President of Member Relations and Publications with the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) and the Editor-in-Chief of NWRA’s official magazine, WasteRecycling magazine. In her role, she is responsible for managing member relations; helping plan meetings and events; managing NWRA’s social media accounts, website, publications and marketing efforts; and serving as the NWRA staff lead for the Education Committee and Membership Committee.

Mallory has worked as a journalist since 2011, covering industries such as waste and recycling, architecture and design and food and beverage. Before joining NWRA, she was the editorial director at Waste360, a leading industry publication. In that role, she led all editorial efforts for the publication as well as WasteExpo, North America’s largest solid waste, recycling and organics industry event. She also covered all aspects of the industry in her reporting and created Women Leaders in Waste, a monthly series sponsored by the NWRA Women’s Council that highlights the work of women in the waste and recycling industry.

Mallory holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Columbia College Chicago and serves as the Chair for the Traverse City Young Professionals Marketing Committee and as an active member of The Festival Foundation’s Preserving the Traditions Committee.

In her free time, she enjoys training Muay Thai, dancing, reading and working on her first thriller novel.
