FILA Announces 2026 Board of Directors and New Leadership Development Structure

ARLINGTON, VAThe Future Industry Leaders Alliance (FILA), a member network of the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA), is pleased to announce its 2026 board of directors, along a new board structure designed to strengthen leadership development and support long-term succession planning.

FILA remains committed to creating opportunities for emerging leaders to grow and engage within the waste and recycling industry. As part of this commitment, the board has introduced new non-voting “alternate” positions to expand participation and build a strong pipeline of future leaders.

“These additions reflect FILA’s ongoing commitment to leadership development,” said FILA Chair Tyler Ohlmansiek of Mack Trucks. “By creating more opportunities for involvement, we are investing in the long-term success of both FILA and the industry as a whole.”

Expanding Leadership Opportunities

The newly established Alternate Board Member positions were created to provide additional pathways for FILA members to gain board-level experience. These non-voting roles allow participants to work alongside current board members while contributing to key initiatives in:

  • Membership
  • Education
  • Marketing
  • Events

Alternate members are selected through a competitive application and interview process and are expected to actively participate in committee work and board initiatives. This structure is designed to broaden representation, strengthen engagement, and ensure continuity in FILA leadership.

Building the Future of the Industry

FILA continues to serve as a platform for cultivating the next generation of leaders in the waste and recycling industry. By expanding board participation and formalizing a leadership pipeline, FILA is reinforcing its mission to develop talent, foster collaboration, and support professional growth across its membership.
