Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) announced today that nominations for the Hall of Fame Class of 2027 are officially open.
The Hall of Fame is the Association’s highest honor, recognizing individuals whose careers have made a meaningful impact on the waste and recycling industry. Candidates are considered based on their inspirational leadership, service to NWRA and the industry, and at least 25 years of contributions. The Class of 2027 will join more than 200 industry leaders inducted since the Hall of Fame was established in 1986.
“Induction in the Hall of Fame reflects the exceptional contributions by each individual to the progress of our industry and the people who have helped move it forward,” said Michael E. Hoffman, NWRA president and CEO and Hall of Fame Class of 2020. “We look forward to welcoming the Class of 2027 and celebrating the remarkable careers and achievements of its members at the 2027 NWRA Awards Gala in Las Vegas.”
The Hall of Fame Committee has made serval changes to the submission process. Beginning this year, the Committee will review no more than five letters of recommendation per candidate, and each individual may submit only one letter for one candidate. If more than five letters are submitted for a candidate, only the first five received will be reviewed. Previously submitted nomination packets must be updated to comply with these requirements.
Applications must be submitted online through NWRA’s Hall of Fame Online Application Form.
Completed applications are due December 4, 2026.

The Class of 2027 will be formally recognized at NWRA’s Annual Awards Gala on May 3, 2027, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas during WasteExpo by Informa.
