NWRA Women’s Council Launches 2023-2024 Scholarship Program to Empower Future Leaders in the Waste and Recycling Industry

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) Women’s Council is thrilled to announce it is accepting applications for the 2023-2024 Scholarship Program, which is aimed at supporting employees of member companies and their dependents pursuing careers in the waste and recycling industry. As a testament to its commitment to fostering talent and driving diversity in the field, the Women’s Council has awarded more than $410,000 in scholarships to date.

Tammy Holtzman, district manager of Waste Connections and chair of the NWRA Women’s Council Scholarship Committee, highlighted the significance of the scholarship in advancing an individual’s role in the industry, saying, “The waste and recycling sector plays a crucial role in shaping a sustainable future for our planet. It is essential to empower and encourage students to actively participate in this dynamic field. The scholarship not only provides financial assistance but also fosters a community and makes meaningful contributions to industry stewardship.”

The NWRA Women’s Council invites eligible candidates to apply for the 2023-2024 Scholarship Program. Applications will be accepted until April 1, 2024, and the recipients will be announced before WasteExpo 2024. The scholarship awards will contribute to tuition, books and other educational expenses.
