NWRA’s Safety Monday Reminds Waste Collection Drivers to Watch for Work Zones

Arlington, VA—This week’s Safety Monday, presented by Leck Waste Services, reminds waste collectors to avoid incidents in work zones. Work zone fatalities have increased by more than 10%.

“The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that 33% of work zone incidents involved commercial motor vehicles,” said Kirk Sander, NWRA chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards. “Our drivers should follow the recommended steps to avoid an incident when they encounter a work zone.”
