Phillip Shaffer is the Vice President of Chapter Relations at the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). In this role, he has responsibility for chapters in Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Phil has more than 15 years of experience in relationship management, business development, operations and strategic planning. Before joining NWRA, he served as a regional director for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), where he was responsible for advancing organizational goals, policies and corporate strategy for 35 chapters across 22 states.
Prior to ACHE, Phil managed the customer relations department at The Joint Commission that included accreditation resolution, operational performance, P&L and retention initiatives. He also served as a subject matter expert and change agent for strategic planning and process improvement projects to help improve quality and safety initiatives.
Phil holds an MBA from Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, a former National Baldrige examiner with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and currently resides in the west suburbs of Chicago.
