NWRA Women’s Council Hosts U.S. Senator Tim Scott at Conference
Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) Women’s Council welcomed U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina to the 2021 Women’s Council President’s Conference kickoff reception on November 8 held in Charleston, S.C. Senator Scott chatted with members about industry issues and wished the group a great week in his home state.
“Senator Scott was delightful, engaging and showed great interest in our member companies and the work we do in waste and recycling,” said NWRA Women’s Council President Faith Zydowsky of Sierra Container Group. “His visit was a great way to start the conference.”
Board of Trustees Chair Ben Harvey and Ellen Harvey were also in attendance, as were longtime South Carolina waste industry owners Scott and Lesley Fennel.
Each year, the sitting president of the Women’s Council plans a members-only conference of education, networking, tours and professional development. In addition to Senator Scott’s visit, the members participated in a workshop on emotional intelligence; toured a glass-to-countertop recycling facility and a wine bottle-to-candle recycling plant; enjoyed a historic carriage ride; and engaged in a team-building scavenger hunt through Charleston. The conference ended with a Roaring 20s Gala.
