NWRA’s Riley Recognized as One of The Hill’s Top Lobbyists for 2021
Named for the Third Consecutive Year to the Prestigious List for His Efforts Related to Recycling Infrastructure and Leading the Charge Against Distracted Driving Caused by Mobile Devices
Arlington, VA – The Hill newspaper released its annual list of Washington, D.C.’s top lobbyists today, naming the National Waste & Recycling Association’s (NWRA) Chief Counsel & Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Jim Riley to its 2021 list for the third year in a row.
In one of the busiest years on record for the D.C. influence world, these are the people who stand out for delivering results for their clients in the halls of Congress and the administration. The list highlights the broad range of talents needed to achieve success in the industry.
Riley was selected by The Hill for his work on post-pandemic issues such as the RECYCLE Act of 2021 and the DRIVE-Safe Act, both of which were in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Additionally, he is leading the charge against distracted driving caused by mobile phone usage that is killing the industry’s frontline workers through efforts with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and congressional oversight committees for those agencies.
“Over the past four years, NWRA has spent extensive time and resources in hiring the absolute best talent in the government relations arena. Jim’s recognition by The Hill is well-deserved, and we are proud of his efforts on behalf of the industry,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith.
The Hill, described as providing “nonpartisan reporting on the inner workings of Congress and the nexus of politics and business,” is mailed directly to all congressional offices and widely distributed around Capitol Hill as well as throughout downtown Washington, D.C.
Since 2018, NWRA has been recognized with 11 total national awards for individuals and the association at-large.
