NWRA Reminds Waste Collection Workers to Avoid Heat-Related Injuries
Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) Safety Monday for this week, presented by Republic Services, reminds waste collection workers to drink fluids, get plenty of rest, and take breaks as needed.
“Hydration starts the day before. Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to drink water,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for NWRA. “If you start to feel symptoms of heat exhaustion, seek shade immediately.”
“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
