NWRA Provided Assistance and Information to the Investigation

Arlington, VA – The National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) released a report as part of its Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) program. This report focused on a 2020 incident involving a waste collection worker who was struck by a collection truck backing up. Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards at the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA), provided assistance and information to the investigation.

“I was pleased to assist NIOSH with the report. Our member companies work hard every day to ensure their employees come home safely every night,” said Sander. “It is my hope that this report and others like it will help prevent the next fatality.”
