NWRA’s Kentucky Chapter Comments on Five-year Solid Waste Plan for Louisville
Arlington, VA – The Kentucky chapter of the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) sent a letter with comments to the Louisville Metro Solid Waste Board as it considers the Louisville/Jefferson County Solid Waste Management District Five-Year Plan. The chapter noted that the Metro Louisville diversion rate of 54 percent is significantly higher than its regional peers including Nashville (24 percent) and Indianapolis (7 percent).
“Private sector haulers, disposal and materials recovery facilities have been leaders in driving that rate and will continue to lead as Metro Louisville seeks to achieve its goals to improve waste diversion and recycling rates,” said Bob Lee, Ecotech president and chairman of NWRA’s Kentucky chapter.
