NWRA Safety Monday Reminds Waste Collection Workers to Follow Lockout/Tagout Procedures
Arlington, VA – This week’s Safety Monday, presented by Republic Services, reminds waste collection workers to follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
“LOTO ensures that energy sources are de-energized and that others cannot accidentally or unintentionally reenergize equipment that someone is working on,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). “When working on energized equipment, it is critical to ensure that all sources of energy are considered and isolated.”
“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
