NWRA Hires Rachel Hering to Lead Sunbelt Region

Hering Brings Significant Experience Expanding Waste and Recycling Programs in Rural Areas

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) announced that Rachel Hering has joined the Association as vice president, chapter relations.

Hering comes to NWRA from Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) following a merger with Cooperative Teamwork & Recycling Assistance (CTRA), an organization she led for 12 years. Through both KTB and CTRA, Hering was responsible for advancing recycling access in Texas, and during her tenure, she established 25-plus community recycling programs and secured more than $1.1 million in implementation and educational funding for member communities. Her experience with materials management in rural and underserved areas has led her all over the country (and even Canada!) to provide technical assistance on rural recycling development and programs.

“I’m excited to join NWRA, an organization that advocates for the waste and recycling industry and is committed to making the industry safer and sustainable,” said Hering.

“NWRA is pleased to welcome Rachel,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “Her experience will help us better serve our members, grow our membership and be stronger advocates for the waste and recycling industry.”
