Members in Illinois have been very active during the final weeks of 2022. In early December, members met and prepared testimony for an Illinois PFAS committee hearing. Also, members received, reviewed, and provided feedback on the latest Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) draft legislation. In addition to EPR, a bottle deposit bill is also anticipated for 2023. Illinois members have met with proponents of a draft bill. At present, the bottle bill language proposed is unworkable for NWRA members.
On January 20th, to kick off the 2023 Illinois legislative session, chapter members will gather for breakfast at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook with a meeting to follow. The chapter’s lobbyists, Jim and Kevin Morphew will provide an update on the upcoming Illinois General Assembly Session and have extended an invitation to a guest speaker from the General Assembly. The chapter also will discuss other NWRA activities and planned events for 2023. Click here to register.
