Illinois Chapter members are prepared to tackle several issues in the 2023 session, including PFAS, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), a bottle deposit bill, and environmental justice. Additionally, members are preparing to introduce a strong lithium battery disposal bill due to the continuation of MRF and truck fires. Finally, the chapter hopes to sit with the manufacturer and retail association to agree on language before identifying a sponsor.
On January 20th, to kick off the 2023 Illinois legislative session, chapter members will gather for breakfast at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook, with a meeting to follow. The chapter’s lobbyists, Jim and Kevin Morphew will provide an update on the upcoming Illinois General Assembly Session. Members are excited to host Senator Bill Cunningham, the highest-ranking legislature member, to attend the IL NWRA chapter meeting at this meeting. Sen. Cunningham serves on the Senate Environment Committee and is involved in all the primary legislation considered in the Senate as the #2 person in Senate leadership. The chapter also will discuss other NWRA activities and planned events for 2023. Click here to register.
