December 27:
The Maryland Chapter is preparing for a new administration with new cabinet secretaries. There are new lawmakers as well. Senate President Bill Ferguson announced new committee assignments and changes in subject matter jurisdiction for some committees.
The chapter expects several bills to surface again in the upcoming General Assembly Session. These include EPR, Environmental Justice, and labor and workforce legislation.
New regulations related to organics recycling and food waste became effective on December 26, 2022. The chapter will discuss this rule at its upcoming chapter meeting on January 9.
