In Honor of Mickey & Ellen Flood, DCA Awards Annual Scholarship Recipient

Arlington, VA – Today, the Detachable Container Association (DCA), partnered with the National Waste & Recycling Association’s (NWRA) Women’s Council, proudly announced that this year’s Mickey & Ellen Flood Scholarship recipient is Erica Higa of Recology. Higa will receive a $7,500 scholarship that will assist her in achieving her goal of obtaining a Master of Environmental Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

“Above all other pursuits, Mickey’s passion was taking care of people,” said Tammy Holtzman, chair of the Scholarship Committee. “The DCA Board of Directors established a scholarship to memorialize his numerous contributions to our industry. It is named to honor Mickey and Ellen as co-founders of the NWRA Women’s Council.”

This scholarship program is aimed at benefiting NWRA member company employees and their dependents through the Women’s Council Scholarship. The scholarship is made possible by the generous donations of companies within the DCA—a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
