NWRA Accepting Applications for 2023 Driver of Year and Operator of the Year Awards

NWRA Accepting Applications for 2023 Driver of Year and Operator of the Year Awards

Process Aimed at Increasing Pool of Applicants

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) is accepting applications for its Driver of the Year and Operator of the Year awards. Those selected for the Drivers and Operators of the Year will be honored during NWRA’s Awards Breakfast at WasteExpo 2023.

“The waste and recycling industry has many talented drivers and operators,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “We expect our judges will have a more difficult task as they review the best of the best applications under the new application regime, but the effort is worth it.”

The Driver of the Year awards honor member drivers who operate their trucks in a safe and responsible manner, have outstanding performance records and whose contributions have enhanced the overall safety and image of the solid waste industry.

The Operator of the Year awards recognize heavy equipment operators working in post-collection operations including landfills, materials recovery facilities and transfer stations. Two Operator of the Year awards will be given this year.

National and midsized companies may submit applications for up to 3% of their fleet. Local and public sector companies may submit as many applications as desired. Public sector entities will have a lower fee structure to encourage more competition.

Applications close on January 20, 2023.
