NWRA Congratulates SWANA on the Selection of its New Executive Director/CEO

Amy Lestition Burke Appointed to Provide New Leadership

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) congratulates the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) on naming Amy Lestition Burke as its new executive director and chief executive officer.

“NWRA and SWANA have had a close working relationship over the years that has proven to complement the distinctions of each organization,” stated NWRA Interim President and CEO Jim Riley. “We look forward to continuing this under SWANA’s new leadership for many years to come.”

Lestition Burke has served as the executive director of two previous associations and holds several designations, including certified association executive from the American Society of Association Executives.

While NWRA is a 501(c)(6) trade association that can engage in unlimited local, state and federal advocacy, SWANA is a 501(c)(3) focused on education and research with limited ability to engage in advocacy under the tax code. Together, the organizations have worked to advance the common interests of the entire waste and recycling industry.
