NWRA Congratulates the Voice of Oscar the Grouch on His Retirement

Caroll Spinney Retires After 50 Years as the Voice of Oscar the Grouch

Arlington, VA – On behalf of the waste and recycling industry, National Waste & Recycling Association President and CEO Darrell Smith congratulated Caroll Spinney on his retirement as the voice of Oscar the Grouch and thanked him for making garbage cool.

“We offer our sincere gratitude for the 50 years you were the voice of Oscar the Grouch. As one of the most popular characters on Sesame Street, Oscar taught millions of children about waste and recycling,” said Smith.

Eric Jacobson will take over the role of Oscar.
