NWRA Participates in The Citadel in DC Program for Summer Internship

Arlington, VA – Ryan Adkins, a rising junior at the The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, is interning this summer with the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). Each year, The Citadel sends a select group of students to Washington, D.C., as part of The Citadel in DC program.

“I am pleased to have Cadet Adkins interning with us this summer. Internships provide an opportunity for anyone interested in a profession to better understand it. Ryan has quickly become an important member of the Association, assisting our government relations and communications teams. We look forward to Ryan’s contributions as he continues his internship with us this summer,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith.

“Ryan is studying political science with a focus in law and legal studies. Ryan has been a great asset to The Citadel in DC program. He is competitive academically and very interested in pursuing opportunities to broaden his knowledge and experience of global issues,” said Paget Tisdale, director of The Citadel Career Center.

The Citadel in DC program allows students to live in D.C., intern and earn academic credit. Students are also partnered with an alumnus of The Citadel to have as a mentor and guide to navigate all of the different opportunities. NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith is a graduate of The Citadel.
