NWRA Recognizes Veterans for Military Service
Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) recognized more than 80 veterans this week with a unique challenge coin honoring their service to our country. These men and women represent every branch of the military and were nominated by their employer.
“We cannot thank these brave men and women enough for their commitment to our country. Their leadership and work ethic are an inspiration to us during this global pandemic,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “I am pleased to recognize them with a challenge coin this week when we pause to thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice.”
In 2019, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler joined Smith to honor waste and recycling industry employees for their service in the military during EPA’s 2019 America Recycles: Innovation Fair.
“I am honored to join NWRA again in recognizing the extraordinary service of veterans working in the recycling industry who have helped protect the environment through a pandemic,” said Wheeler.
