NWRA Releases IRS Form 990 for 2021

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) released its Form 990 for 2021 in accordance with the organization’s transparency initiative. NWRA recorded $7.3 million in revenue and $5.3 million in expenses for the year ended 2021, which resulted in a change in net assets of more than $2 million dollars, as shown on Form 990. NWRA also recorded $1.2 million in unrealized gains on investments, which resulted in a $3.2 million change in net assets overall on the audited financial statements. NWRA grew its operating cash by more than $500,000 in 2021, further increasing its operating stability.

This is a public document, but few people know how to access these forms, so NWRA takes the extra steps of posting the document on its website and issuing a press release.

“I am pleased to report that NWRA closed out 2021 with a healthy surplus,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “This is a testament to the trust our members place in us along with the value we provide them as we strongly advocate for the waste and recycling industry at every level of government. I congratulate our members and staff on a strong year.”
