NWRA Safety Monday Reminds Waste Collection Workers that Water, Rest and Shade are Important to Their Health

Arlington, VA – This week’s Safety Monday, presented by Republic Services, reminds waste collection workers to drink plenty of water, get rest and seek shaded areas outside out of direct sunlight.

“It is important for the men and women in our industry to drink plenty of water before, during and after work,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). “Getting plenty of rest and seeking shade also are important to avoid a heat-related event.”

“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
