NWRA Safety Monday Reminds Waste Collection Workers to Avoid Heat-related Illness and Injury

Arlington, VA – This week’s Safety Monday, presented by Working Athlete, reminds waste collection workers to avoid injuries and illness due to excessively hot weather.

“Many parts of the country are experiencing above-average temperatures,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). “We encourage waste collection workers to understand how heat affects the body and avoid heat-related illness.”

“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
