NWRA Safety Monday Reminds Waste Collection Workers to Avoid Heat-related Illnesses and Injuries

Arlington, VA – This week’s Safety Monday, presented by WM, offers important reminders to prevent heat-related illnesses and injuries.

“Even as summer begins to wind down, many parts of the country remain very warm,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). “We encourage waste collection workers to stay hydrated, take rest and recovery breaks as needed and find shaded areas where they can recover from the heat.”

“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
