NWRA Safety Monday Reminds Waste Collection Workers to Follow LOTO Procedures
Arlington, VA – This week’s Safety Monday, presented by Republic Services, reminds waste collection workers to follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to prevent injuries and fatalities.
“LOTO is required when you are performing work on a piece of equipment or machine where there could be an unexpected start-up or release of stored energy,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). “These safety procedures help protect employees from injuries when performing maintenance and servicing equipment.”
“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
