NWRA Safety Monday Reminds Waste Collection Workers to Prevent Disasters with LOTO
Arlington, VA – This week’s Safety Monday, presented by Republic Services, reminds waste collection workers to follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to prevent injuries and fatalities.
“Failing to properly execute LOTO procedures can endanger you and your coworkers,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA). “LOTO prevents an estimated 120 fatalities and 150,000 injuries each year.”
“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
