NWRA Urges Congress to Pass Transportation Bill Before Deadline

Association Joins Coalition Calling for Passage of Bipartisan Transportation Bill

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) joined other associations on a letter to House and Senate leaders urging Congress to pass a surface transportation reauthorization bill before the September 30, 2020, deadline.

“We urge Congress to pass a surface transportation bill that gets Americans back to work. A 21st century infrastructure system will not only provide jobs but lay the foundation for a more competitive economy,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “Apart from the waste and recycling industry and the U.S. Postal Service, one would be hard-pressed to name another industry that travels every road in America at least once a week every week.”

NWRA supports robust investment in our infrastructure and believes it will improve safety, reduce transportation costs and make the United States more competitive globally.
