NWRA Urges Members to Contact Senators Ahead of Economic Stimulus Vote

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) sent its members an Action Alert as the Senate begins to debate the economic stimulus package. NWRA is asking the Senate to prioritize assistance to critical infrastructure industries as identified by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). DHS recently designated the waste collection industry as “essential critical infrastructure.”

“The waste and recycling industry will continue to operate throughout this crisis, and at times we will not be compensated. It is vital that our industry and those other DHS-designated industries be able to continue their operations during this national emergency. In order to do so, priority must be given to such industries in any COVID-19 economic stimulus package,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith.
