NWRA’s Safety Monday Reminds Drivers that Kids are Back in School

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) Safety Monday for this week, presented by Republic Services, reminds drivers to watch for children and school buses.

“We urge drivers and waste collection workers to slow down in school zones and other high-traffic areas,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for NWRA. “It is important they keep alert as kids are walking and riding bikes to school and crossing the street to get on and off the school bus.”

“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
