NWRA’s Safety Monday Reminds Workers that Preventing Fatalities Starts with the Small Things

Arlington, VA – This week’s Safety Monday, presented by Republic Services, reminds waste collection workers to do small things like wearing a seat belt to prevent fatalities.

“In 2021, 64% of truck drivers killed in crashes of large trucks were not wearing a seat belt,” said Kirk Sander, NWRA chief of staff and vice president, safety and standards. “It is important that we get the small things right.”
