NWRA’s Safety Monday Urges Waste Collection Workers to Follow Lockout/Tagout Procedures to Prevent Workplace Incidents

Arlington, VA – The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) Safety Monday for this week, presented by Republic Services, provides waste collection workers with a checklist of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures to help ensure a safe workplace.

“LOTO procedures are an important resource to prevent workplace incidents,” said Kirk Sander, chief of staff and vice president of safety and standards for NWRA. “We urge employees to follow these procedures to help avoid serious injuries from hazardous sources of energy.”

“We are pleased to provide this industry-renowned safety resource to anyone who requests it,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “You do not need to be a member of NWRA to receive it.”
