As an astute Senior Controller, Walter “Walt” Mannherz brings more than 10 years of accounting experience to his role managing teams and producing meticulous financial statements for Vault’s nonprofit clients including the National Waste & Recycling Association. Prior to working with Vault, Walt contributed his accounting expertise to the nonprofit industry with Independent Sector, where he tracked philanthropic contributions and gifts to report on them in rigorous detail. He now utilizes his proficiency in GAAP, familiarity with audit procedures and 990 Tax Returns to support Vault clients throughout the entire financial reporting cycle. His expertise in nonprofit accounting contributed to the sustenance and growth of Vault clients during the financial tumult of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Walt is a motivational manager who orchestrates teams that deliver excellent service to meet every client request. He is an expert in coordinating teams to achieve a common goal. Throughout the financial reporting cycle, Walt consistently delivers thorough statements to his clients.
After spending four years following high school as an Auto Body Technician, Walt transformed his career when he enrolled in George Mason University to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He obtained his license as a Certified Public Accountant in the Commonwealth of Virginia after graduating. Walt continues to repair cars and especially enjoys restoring and driving older vehicles. His remarkable attention to detail has served him well in both the automotive and accounting industries. He is as adept at assembling financial data as car parts to help both nonprofit organizations and vintage cars perform at their best.
Walt, his wife and their two children split their time between the DMV area and Lake Anna in Orange, Va. In his free time at the lake, Walt enjoys boating, relaxing on the dock and making sno-cones at the request of his children.
