Awards

The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) has a number of different annual award programs for individuals and companies, acknowledging the diversity of our industry. The majority of the awards, with the exception of the Recycling Awards, are presented at the NWRA Awards Breakfast at WasteExpo. Learn about our awards programs below.

 

Hall of Fame

NWRA’s Hall of Fame Award is the preeminent industry recognition. The award is presented annually to select industry visionaries and icons who have created an enduring legacy through their inspirational leadership, core values and significant contributions.

Driver  and Operator of the Year

This program honors member drivers who operate their trucks in a safe and responsible manner, have outstanding performance records, and whose contributions have enhanced the overall safety and image of the waste and recycling industry.

Member of the Year

These awards honor members who have demonstrated extraordinary service to the mission and goals of the Association and the industry over a 12-month period.

Recycling Awards

The NWRA Recycling Awards recognize companies, organizations or individuals who have made a significant impact in the waste and recycling industry. They are intended to celebrate achievements and commitment, as well as provide inspiration for others.

Chapter Leadership Awards

These awards recognize members who have made contributions to a chapter over a period of time that were particularly meritorious. (formerly known as the Special Governor’s Award)

These awards recognize longstanding members of the Association who have rendered service in pursuit of NWRA’s mission and goals over a period of time, generally spanning a number of years.

Women’s Council Scholarship

The NWRA Women’s Council scholarships are offered to NWRA member company employees and their dependents who wish to use their education for a career in the waste and recycling industry. Eligible candidates may be a part-time or returning school student, a trade or community college applicant or a student for a university/college. The NWRA Women’s Council scholarships are ONLY open to NWRA member company employees and their dependents.
